Your Answers
to Frequently Asked Questions
1. What else will I need to buy separately
when my tractor crate arrives?
You will have to purchase your own antifreeze, diesel fuel and battery
electrolyte (acid). Occasionally you may need an extra bolt or nut that
didn't get included in the bolt pack.
2. How much extra will shipping and import
fee's cost me?
Absolutely no extra charge. Prices include delivery except
to Alaska and Hawaii. Save even more by picking up your package in
person at a customs freight dock, these are located in most large cities.
3. What is the warranty?
One year on parts from delivery date. Labor and freight
are not included. Maintenance parts (filters ect.) are not covered.
4. How do I get repair parts and how long does
that take?
Many parts are available from stock at Tractor Outlet. Normal
maintenance items are in stock and can be shipped UPS direct to you from
our west coast operations. Small factory parts can be air freighted
from China in 14 days. Large factory parts come ocean freight in
60 days. Our current data base shows 175 traditional stocking dealers
of the Jinma. (under many different Decals) So if it is out of warranty,
buy where you want.
5. How long will it take to get my tractor?
Delivery time can vary but USUALLY it takes 60 days from the date
your deposit check clears. This 60 day time frame can vary depending
on a lot of things that are outside of our direct control. For instance
we cannot control bad weather, holidays, and customs. Other factors that
change things in a hurry are multiple shipping companies, and distance
from the west coast ports. Best case is approximately 55 days
and the worse case seems to be around 85. The 55 days is when you
are going to pick up yourself at a freight warehouse on the west coast.
This eliminates several variables. Worse case of 85 days is when your tractor
or equipment has to travel anywhere off the west coast by rail, clear customs,
and then be picked up by a local trucking firm and delivered to your home
address. Rail travel time is usually 10 days from west to the east coast
but this can also vary. Local trucking usually adds 5 days vs. pickup
at a warehouse and customs inspections now take longer than in times past,
thanks to the fear of terrorists since 9/11.
Point being, please do not make long range personal plans based
upon best case scenarios. About 5 days ahead of the freight being
at your actual location we will be able to inform you of its imminent delivery
but NOT BEFORE. We do try to eliminate as many variables as possible
by using only the most reputable firms such as "Danzas AEI" who is a world
leader in Customs Brokerage so please be patient - your equipment will
arrive.
6. What is a two stage clutch?
Disengaging the clutch part way will stop the tractor but keep the
PTO running.
7. Do I have to buy maintenance items (filters,
belts, hoses) from the Tractor Outlet?
No you do not. There are direct american replacement parts
available from most automotive or tractor dealers in your area. Remember
that standard maintenance items are not covered under your 1 year parts
warranty.
8. If I have a major problem with my tractor,
do I have to take it to the Tractor Outlet in Oregon for repair?
No, the labor and the freight are not covered under your warranty.
Any of your local tractor repair facilities can repair your tractor. We
can have the warranty parts sent direct to the facility of your choice.
9. Are hydrostatic transmissions available
as an option?
No, we only offer standard transmissions at this time. Twelve forward
speeds from creeper to a quite nice road gear plus four reverse speeds
will usually suffice for almost anything you need to do. We, ourselves
have put many hours on our own Jinma tractors and find them to be very
durable and easy to operate.
10. Does my tractor use special oils or fluids?
No, use standard type CF or CG or CH Motor oil 30W or 15W40 for
the engine and use 303 or 145 type
transmission/hydraulic fluid in the transmission and the hydraulics.
All of these are available from your local auto parts dealers.
11. Can I buy Implements from the Tractor Outlet?
Yes, please view our implements page for the current availability.
Implements
Page
12. Can I buy a mower or blade from the Tractor
Outlet?
At this time it is not cost effective for us to import these implements.
13. Can I get the Tractor Outlet to finance
my purchase?
No, we do not offer any kind of in-house financing at this time.
We will however gladly accept your Visa, Mastercard or Discover for an
additional 6 percent fee.
14. Can I get a catalog or brochure?
Not at this time, these frills just add unnecessary expenses to
our operation and we would have to pass those fee's along to our customers.
We are here to save you money, most information and/or pictures are
available direct from our website. If you need something not found
on our website then just send us an email and we can fax you that particular
information.
15. I saw a local, or catalog dealer that seems
to sell a similar tractor, are they the same as yours?
Probably very similar, differences will be in price, decals,
paint, available HP options, and theirs will probably not include our large
standard list of already installed options. All of ours come with
the superior smooth running 3 cylinder engine. Catalog dealers will
sell you the tractor but then add additional freight, (most likely a significant
amount of it) our pricing already includes all freight. Do not expect
a traditional stocking dealer to match our price, so do not even ask.
Their costs are more than ours and like all things in life you get what
you pay for. They fully assemble and stock the unit. Tractor
Outlet imports a crated tractor kit requiring you the customer to perform
some assembly.
16. Can I order a tractor now and then next
year the front end loader?
Sure, but it will cost significantly more in freight than if you
order them both now as a package.
17. How complicated is it to assemble my purchase?
Assembly time can vary, but you and one of your friends should be
able to assemble your tractor over the weekend. Be prepared and knowledgeable
about mechanics and electrical basics that most do-it-yourselfers already
know. Do you have a farm or mechanical background? Do you know your way
around a wrench and a jack? Can you do basic electrical trouble shooting
if a wire has come off or a fuse is blown. Can you tighten a loose hydraulic
fitting? Are you willing to get dirty? If you answered yes to these questions
then you probably can handle the assembly without any problems. If you
answered no then you should find a traditional dealership and purchase
a fully assembled tractor. Know your limitations and don't get in over
your head. If you get confused or have a problem during assembly then call
or email us and we will most likely be able to answer your question right
away. The manuals that come with your tractor are basic, cover multiple
models and may not be up to date with a new or recent change - they certainly
do not cover every aspect of every tractor and are not shop repair manuals.
The Tractor-Outlet has put together an Instructional,
Step by Step Video which covers the 18-28 hp tractors. Even
thought the basics are the same on a 30 hp, their are differences. Additionally
the video does not cover backhoe installation but our website covers this
area pretty extensively. Our 18-28 hp assembly video is sent to you free
of charge after we receive your payment and order.
18. Are there any hidden costs?
We have never charged any customer additional hidden costs but there
is a very remote possibility that customs officials could choose to open
and then completely inspect the freight package. This rare and remote possibility
would add an additional 4 percent charge which we in turn would pass on
to you. To counter this, we could build in this additional cost to
every customer purchase on the slim chance that it could happen but we
just don't see the necessity other than to inform you of the possibility.
19. I see that in order to get the lowest purchase
price I need to pick up my equipment at the freight yard, what will I need
to bring?
You will need a flat bed trailer capable of hauling 4,000 pounds
if you are picking up a tractor only or an additional 2,000 pounds if you
purchased a loader or backhoe. Be sure to bring chains and tie downs
to secure your load. Most any car hauling trailer will suffice to
haul your load. This type of trailer is available for rent from U-haul
and other similar operations. E-mail the Tractor Outlet to request
the expanded, detailed letter that gives helpful tips on picking up at
the warehouse.
20. How long has the Tractor Outlet been in
business in Oregon?
18 years under the same ownership, in the same location, our business
was established in 1985 and incorporated as Barlow RV. A few years
ago we added tractor import and sales to our long established business
and recently moved our business to accommodate our expansion. We are now,
and have long been, a member of the Albany Chamber of Commerce, we are
also members of the Christmas Valley chamber. Feel free to call them
and ask about our standing in the community. A link to those sites is provided
on our links page.
21. Who makes the tractors that Tractor Outlet
sells?
The Tractor Outlet sells the Jinma series tractors. These are manufactured
in China and exported all over the world with many different decals on
the hood. "Farm Boss" is the decal that is currently assigned to tractors
for the American market. Many companies market similar tractors with
different decals. The China factory manufactured over 10,000 tractors last
year, with 1/3 of those entering the U.S. market.
22. Do I have to pay any sales tax?
No, your purchase originates in Oregon which has no sales tax.
23. Will American made 3 point implements fit
the tractors you sell?
Sure, the tractors we sell up to the 30 HP use a class (1) three
point hitch system, this is the same standard American system that has
been in use for decades. Please, never attempt to hook up larger
class (2) or (3) implements to any compact tractor by simply down grading
the pin sizes. Class (2) and (3) implements are much larger and thus
designated for large HP tractors. Need
More Detailed Information on Hitches and PTO?
24. Can you sell me a tractor if I live in
Canada?
Yes and No. We will only deliver the tractor to a U.S. city
and then you will have to pick it up and take it over the border. It is
not cost efficient for us to import the tractor into the U.S. and then
export it again to Canada. All Canadian import and border fee's are your
responsibility and we do not have a list of these fee's. Please consult
your Canadian Authorities to determine costs. Please note that we only
accept payment in U.S. $
25. What is the Front Cross Mounted Power Steering
Cylinder?
It is a stronger and more efficient method of mounting the power
steering. We sold so many C.M.P.S. that we have now added it as standard
equipment. C.M.P.S will decrease ground clearance on the front axle by
about 4 inches and consequently is in a more exposed position than the
horizontal side mount but we have found it to be a very durable and solid
system.
26. Can I purchase a Cab for my tractor and
still get a Front Loader to fit?
The factory says no - this is due to the way the loader brackets
fit on the tractor. Although we have never tried - you may be able
to get your cab to fit by fabricating some different brackets that attach
in a different way. Keep in mind that this kind of change is done without
any factory or dealer assistance.
27. What factory options are standard at no
additional cost on a purchase from the Tractor-Outlet and how do you offer
these when others charge additional for them?
A common sales and marketing technique developed many years ago
is the "Cheap Razor with Expensive Blades" or "Bait and Switch" program.
What this means is that some retailers will advertise a relative low inexpensive
up front cost to get you on board. To this entry level price they will
then begin to add dealer/factory installed options, and hidden freight/handling
charges. The Tractor-Outlet starts at the factory and has all these
options efficiently installed during the manufacturing process and has
freight charges built right into the price sheet. Coming from a farm background
we consider these factory options essentials and have them installed on
every tractor, plus we want you to know exactly, in advance, what the end
purchase price will be. Bottom line is that since we are not a stocking
dealer, we operate on a narrower margin and we choose to sell you a tractor
loaded up front with features that some others may charge extra for. See
our list of standard features.
28. I currently own a Jinma tractor with a
(Jinma front loader) or (Jinma backhoe) and now I want to add the other
one also. Are there any special considerations?
Yes! All Jinma Front Loaders and Backhoes shipped from the
factory come with their own proprietary mounting brackets. A special mounting
system is necessary when you want to have both the Jinma FEL and BH on
your tractor at the same time. This special "Type 3" assembly will make
full use of the strongest mounting system that the factory currently has
available. A loader and backhoe as a unit on the same tractor will
use this special bracket which currently retails separately for $360 plus
shipping. If you order a Tractor/FEL or Tractor/BH or a full combination
package from the Tractor Outlet, the proper brackets are already included
in the purchase price and nothing additional is needed. Your optional $360
brackets will only come into play if you are adding either an FEL or BH
to an existing tractor with one of these already installed.
29. Are there any hydraulic pump options available?
Yes and No! All of Tractor Outlets 18 to 28 HP Jinma's come with
one engine mounted hydraulic pump which produces pressure for all related
hydraulics including power steering, three point and front end loader if
mounted. Tractor Outlets two stage clutch allows the FEL to be operated
while the clutch is disengaged. Our competitors single stage clutch would
not.
On 30 HP tractors there are two pumps, #1 is for power steering
and FEL, ect. and #2 is for the three point hitch. Both pumps have
a factory default mounting on the engine. An optional rear mounting for
#2 pump is available but this rear mount could produce some minor problems.
When a factory backhoe pump assembly is developed for the 30 HP then this
pump will likely attach at the PTO. If this pump mount is already
in use for the 3 point then you cannot use it for a backhoe. Additionally
when you step down on a single stage clutch the PTO will stop rotating,
this in turn will stop a PTO mounted pump and the three point hydraulics
would also stop. The pump mount location is ultimately your choice and
we will, of course, deliver your tractor to your order specifications.
Remember that our 30 HP 2 wheel drive comes with a single stage clutch
(our only tractor that does) but our 30 HP 4 wheel drive is dual stage.
30. The JW-03 backhoe looks real nice
for my small operation. Can I put one on my existing brand "X" tractor?
Yes, it is possible and probably cost effective. The backhoe
itself is virtually self-contained. The hoe and hyd. reserve tank
and controls are all pre mounted to a base plate. What will be necessary
and is not included with the backhoe is the necessity of a (1) reversing
tractor seat, (2) heavy duty frame work that holds the backhoe securely
at the rear of the tractor. (Tractor Outlet designed, built and is marketing
such a framework to allow use of the JW-03 on to the Q30) Any good
custom fab shop should be able to do the same with your tractor. (3) Hydraulic
hook up is also needed. The factory uses a special metric flat face
fitting that is not readily available. It will be necessary to extend
the two backhoe hoses and connect them to your pressure source. This
pressure source will either be a PTO mounted hyd. pump or your tractor
may already have an unused set of hyd. quick connects at the rear. The
"Prince" PTO pump is available nationwide for $320 to $450 from your local
farm supply or tractor dealer - look for a flow rate of about 7 gal. per
minute.
31. Do you ship to Hawaii?
Yes but it always costs more and usually takes longer. The
only major port is in Honolulu and then you might add inter island shipping.
The big freight ships we normally use direct from China do not stop in
Hawaii. Some freight can be routed through Japan which does speed
it up but costs more. So a normal route is large ship to Los Angeles
and then reship back to Hawaii on a smaller one.
32. I want a Back Hoe but not a Front
Loader, is this advisable?
You can, of course, do anything you wish. We discourage the purchase
of a back hoe without the front loader due to the sturdy and solid platform
that is necessary when digging with a hoe. In order to get the least amount
of movement out of the tractor while digging you should put the bucket
down and lift the front of the tractor off the ground. This stabilizes
front to rear movement of the tractor when curling the hoe and dragging
dirt towards you. At the same time when you lift the front, you are also
lowering the rear which makes the hoe side stabilizer pads grab the ground
harder. When you incorporate the whole tractor/front loader/backhoe system
and have nailed it solid to the ground then you are now digging as efficient
as possible. View
the Backhoe page.
33. I scratched/hit/broke/dented my Jinma Tractor
and would like touch up the paint with a over the counter rattle type can.
What colors match?
Although not an exact match - we have found
the following colors pretty close.
RED = Rustolium Red
BLUE = Krylon True Blue
